Call for Papers now open

The Space Tech Expo team is excited to announce that the call for papers for the free-to-attend 2020 Conference is now open.

We are currently developing the free-to-attend conference and interactive 360 session agendas and welcome your input into our research. We are inviting you to submit your own talk proposals. Please feel free to submit a form if you are interested in participating in a panel discussion or have any ideas for innovative session formats. You can submit your paper until midnight PST December 16, 2019. 

Following first stage research, the 2020 conference will focus on a variety of topics, including but not limited to:

Markets & Money:

  • High-level industry developments, including: (crewed) exploration missions; (commercial) efforts to return to the Moon; the establishment of a Space Force, SMC2.0 and its impact on commercial industry; space traffic management / space situational awareness; developments in the launch and satellite industry (large and small); on-orbit servicing; training and hiring the next-gen workforce
  • Partnerships and collaborations, building bridges between conventional integrators and suppliers / civil / government and New Space organisations
  • Supply chain optimization, including: the role of COTS vs specialized components suppliers; challenges and solutions impacting the US space supply chain
  • Industry transformation: the growing role of commercial companies in space; managing rapid turnaround demands for cheaper tailor-made services / products

 

Space System Development:

  • Design: new approaches to design and systems thinking, such as AM, rapid fabrication and scalable design
  • Power: management, energy efficiency and thermal control
  • Advanced materials: development (structures, composites, alloys etc) and lightweight structures
  • Communication systems: optical, point-to-point, antenna optimisation, in-space communications, smallsat communications 
  • Reusability of space systems, subsystems, parts and components
  • Next-gen propulsion systems (hybrid, hall effect, gridded ion engines, highly efficient multistage plasma thrusters, nuclear, chemical etc.)
  • Lander technology development

Advanced and Industry 4.0 Technology Implementation:

  • Software and Data, including: fast data analysis and on-board processing, cloud integration and safety, quantum computing, calibration of data, IoT networks
  • Additive manufacturing, including: large format / structure development, advanced materials, (faster) material qualification, testing, on-orbit manufacturing
