CEO Interview: Joe Kopp, Validyne Engineering
We took the opportunity to speak to Joe Kop, CEO of Validyne Engineering about his role, new projects and industry trends.
Joe has worked in the aerospace/industrial world for over 40 years. In those years he has been fortunate to be part of many interesting and rewarding projects, including the B-2 bomber, F-22 fighter, Cruise Missile and Patriot Missile System in aerospace; various instrumentation systems for nuclear power plants; climatic wind tunnels; automotive testing; core testing; medical devices and commercial products.
Please tell us about your current role. What are your key focus areas and responsibilities?
As CEO/President of Validyne Engineering, my focus is on managing the big picture for the business. Seeking out new partners that can help us support our future and current customers.
What inspired you to join this company?
I joined Validyne Engineering because I saw an opportunity to be part of something that was bigger than myself.
What do you think sets your company apart from your competitors?
For 50 years, Validyne has put our customers first. We provide superior customer service, products and custom solutions using our team of highly talented and experienced individuals.
What are the key opportunities and challenges your company faces at present?
The evolution of technology is at such a high rate that we are constantly searching for ways to use these advances to benefit our customers.
Are there any new technology developments that you are working on at the moment? Can you tell us about them?
The Validyne engineers are developing an IoT solution for our instrumentation systems that allows pressure, temperature and calibration data to be securely accessed by technicians and engineers on the web or via their phones. The use of IoT devices helps to improve the efficiency and productivity of operations along with reducing costly downtime.
What would you say most excites you about your role?
What excites me is the daily challenges that I am faced with, which provide me with the opportunity to grow as a leader and as a person.
How do you think the industry will develop within the next five years? Can you tell us about the key trends emerging?
The trend I see is the increased integration of digital solutions that can be used to make our products smarter and therefore of greater benefit to our customers.
What do you hope to achieve at the show this year, and what connections do you hope to make?
My hope at this show is to renew old connections and develop successful partnerships with new ones.
