The free-to-attend Open Technical Forum is back at Space Tech Expo 2017, with over 40 not to be missed presentations exploring aerospace manufacturing and design, thermal management, additive manufacturing, communication, electronics and testing innovations.

Day 1 — Tuesday May 23

The opening day of the Open Technical Forum focuses on alternative propulsion systems, additive manufacturing and its testing, communication, and manufacturing and design. Presentation topics include:

  • Introducing alternative propulsion systems; a view on solar electric propulsion
  • Bringing additive manufacturing further; the challenges of design and manufacturing, alloy and property optimization, and hardware qualifications
  • Addressing the future of optical communication
  • Capturing more contracts in the space industry by leveraging the digital thread
  • Getting the most from your materials: data in the virtual world

Day 2 — Wednesday May 24

  • Introducing digital radiography testing; the benefits of transitioning from film to digital
  • Designing modular avionics architecture for next-generation exploration missions
  • Providing circuit protection solutions for space applications
  • Understanding the importance of reliable thermal management; solutions and trends for satellites
